Create this Design – Step by Step

This tutorial breaks down how to build a structured, streetwear-inspired pant design using simple design principles. Follow the steps to create a similar look from scratch.
1. Start with a Mock-Up
Begin with the oversized sweatpants mock-up. This design used a wide-leg silhouette to suit a relaxed, streetwear fit.
2. Add Style Lines
Curved seams were added through the leg to break up the shape. These create structure, add dimension, and allow space for fabric contrast or prints.
3. Introduce Fabric Blocking
Using two tones of green adds depth without overwhelming the design. Fabric blocking like this helps define different zones and gives the garment more visual interest.
4. Add Branding with Purpose
Place a bold logo along the thigh. Position it vertically or at an angle to align with your seam lines — so it becomes part of the structure, not just an added graphic.
5. Final Touches
Use our topstitch brush to highlight the seams and give the piece a more constructed, finished look. A drawstring waistband completes the garment and adds functionality.
